Hunger
Pdfmira hungers for preview. PDF to PNG, WebP, resize — named like contents, shown large. Fileliq hungers for the next slug. Same raster family. Opposite nervous system.
How the page behaves
We give you an index overlay and a colophon. They give you ⌘K and a status bar. Neither is wrong. A student laying out a thesis PDF as images will hate the status bar. An operator clearing scans will hate the running head. Help here is editorial. There it is a keymap.
Magazine copy is slower to scan than a slug table. That is the point of an issue: it asks you to arrive, not to teleport. Fileliq teleports. If you already know `pdf-to-jpg` and you have twenty files, teleport. If you are still deciding whether the scan is a plate or a blob, stay and look. The controller does not change when the typeface does. The next ten minutes do.
Batch
Fileliq wins folders. Pdfmira wins the single stubborn spread. Do not pretend this studio is a queue. Do not pretend their queue is a magazine. Compress PDF exists in both; only one of us wants you to linger on the before and after as if it were print.
Linger is not laziness. Print people linger. Ops people enqueue. A thesis appendix exported as PNG is a linger job. A week of receipts is an enqueue job. If you mix them you get a designer stuck in a dock or an operator stuck in a spread. Pdfmira will not add a command palette to ‘win’ Fileliq. That would erase the issue.
Privacy
Short retention. We are not Cifradocs. They are not Cifradocs. Cookie insert, privacy page, done. The controller is the same person. Dark mode is not a second company.
Visual versus power
Pdfmira = images + PDF. Fileliq = speed and batch. HEIC to JPG belongs in a studio conversation. A command palette belongs in an ops conversation.
Office / AI
Lossy Office conversion does not become faithful because the chrome is dark or because it is magenta. PDF to Word is a draft. AI is coming soon, not on press.
Stay with the plate
Stay if the next action is looking. Fileliq if the next action is another file. Rates. Contact. Colophon as always.
Twenty receipts are a queue. One stubborn cover is a plate. If you put the receipts on a light table you will enjoy the first and resent the nineteenth. If you put the cover in a dock you will export without seeing the crop. Pdfmira refuses to become a dock. Fileliq refuses to become an issue. The raster engine does not mind. Your eyes and your clock do. Choose which organ you are serving this hour.
When the plate is good, download it. This studio is not a portfolio host. When the queue is empty, Fileliq has done its job. Do not keep files here as if the magenta rule were a shelf. Short retention, both rooms. Different first sentences. Same person in the colophon.
Bytes versus plates.
